Fulfilled by TikTok (FBT) charges TikTok Shop fulfillment fees per unit. That one fee covers picking, packing, packaging, and last-mile delivery to the shopper. Storage after 60 days, inbound placement, returns, and optional services are billed separately.

Key Takeaways

  • FBT storage is free for the first 60 days, with discounted rates for inventory held up to 270 days.
  • Multi-unit orders in the 0 to 4 lb tiers cost up to 24% less per unit since January 12, 2026.
  • Return handling moved from a flat $3 per order to itemized per-unit fees on June 1, 2026.
  • Seller Shipping is still available to eligible US sellers alongside FBT.

TikTok Shop Fulfillment Fees at a Glance

I review TikTok cost models with brands almost every week. The same pattern shows up each time. Sellers budget for the per-unit fulfillment fee and miss the five fees around it.

Here is the full picture of TikTok Shop fulfillment costs in one table.

Fee TypeHow It’s Charged2026 BasisWhere Costs Add Up
Fulfillment feePer unit, at deliveryChargeable weight tier and units per orderVirtual bundles bill each unit separately
Storage feeDaily, by cubic feetFree for 60 days, discounted up to 270 daysSlow sellers move into higher age tiers

Incident feesPer unit or per shipmentRouting penalties from $0.50/unit, tiered by weightShipments that differ from the plan
Return feesPer unit, itemizedReturn setting and final dispositionDisposal and return-to-seller choices

TikTok deducts the fulfillment fee from your revenue once the order is delivered. Storage, hub placement, and value-add charges come out of GMV after they settle, and all of them appear in Seller Center payment details. That makes your settlement report the best place to audit TikTok Shop fulfillment charges.

One detail works in sellers’ favor. FBT adds no surcharge for orders shipped to Alaska or Hawaii.

Every FBT fee traces back to three inputs: weight, units per order, and days in storage.

The 2026 FBT Rate Card Timeline

TikTok changed the rate card 7 times between January and July. Any US FBT fulfillment fees 2026 model built in January needs a refresh.

DateChangeWho It Affects
Jan 12, 2026Multi-unit fees cut up to 24% in 0 to 4 lb tiersBrands selling bundles and multi-packs
May 1, 2026Actual-weight billing extended to items up to 2 lb and 332 inยณLight items in slightly bulky packaging
May 15, 2026SIOC discount raised $0.06 to $0.70, new value-add service feesSellers with ship-ready packaging
May 20, 2026Single-unit fees cut $0.10 to $5 for 16 to 50 lb itemsHeavier single-unit SKUs
June 1, 2026Itemized per-unit return fees replace $3 per orderEvery seller with FBT returns
June 18, 2026Multi-unit fees raised $0.10 to $3.00 in 5 to 20 lb tiersMid-weight bundles
July 13, 2026Rate card extended to items up to 150 lbHeavy and bulky products

The January change lowered multi-unit rates for 2, 3, and 4+ item orders in the 0 to 4 lb tiers, and single-unit rates stayed the same. The May 20 update also cut multi-unit fees by $3.50 to $5 per unit in the 20+ to 50 lb tiers.

Seven rate card changes in seven months means last year’s cost model is already stale.

How FBT Fulfillment Fees Are Calculated

FBT fulfillment fees depend on two things. The first is the chargeable weight of each unit. The second is how many units ship from you in one checkout.

How fbt fulfillment fees are calculated

Single-Unit vs Multi-Unit Orders

A one-item order bills at the single-unit rate for its weight tier. Multi-unit rates apply when two or more FBT units come from the same seller in a single checkout. A 3-unit order gets a lower per-unit rate than a 2-unit order, and 4+ unit orders get the lowest rate.

TikTok calculates multi-unit fees on each unit’s own chargeable weight, with no need to estimate the full package. That keeps the math simple at the SKU level.

Chargeable Weight and the 2 lb Rule

Since May 1, 2026, units at or under 2 lb and 332 inยณ bill on actual weight only. Above either threshold, TikTok bills the greater of actual or dimensional weight, using length times width times height divided by 166.

A 1.5 lb product in a 10 x 8 x 6 inch box measures 480 inยณ. It crosses the volume line. Its dimensional weight is 2.9 lb, so it bills at the higher tier. Trimming that box to 332 inยณ or less moves it back to actual weight.

Virtual Bundles vs Physical Bundles

This is the detail I see affect margins most often. A virtual bundle ships as separate units and bills at multi-unit rates. A physical bundle arrives pre-packed and bills as one unit.

FBT does not currently offer kitting, so physical bundles must be assembled before they arrive. Brands that kit upstream at a prep partner can turn a three-unit order into a single-unit fee.

Heavy and Bulky Items up to 150 lb

As of July 13, 2026, the rate card supports items over 50 lb and up to 150 lb, with sides up to 108 inches. Fees for items between 4 oz and 50 lb did not change with that update. Standard FBT eligibility is still listed at 26 x 26 x 26 inches and under 50 lb, so larger items go through TikTok’s Heavy Bulky Service.

Furniture, fitness, and home brands can now price FBT for SKUs that did not qualify before.

A physical bundle bills as one unit. A virtual bundle bills as many.

TikTok FBT Storage Fees After the Free 60 Days

Storage stays free for the first 60 days. Since December 15, 2025, inventory stored up to 270 days gets discounts of 14% to 43%, with no end date. Rates for inventory past 270 days did not change.

A few mechanics shape your storage line:

  • Fees are calculated daily at 23:59 on the total cubic feet of all units, sellable and defective.
  • Storage days run from inbound time to outbound time.
  • Tiers between 91 and 270 days are now more granular.
  • Each FBT account gets a storage capacity set by sell-through and product volume, and sellers can request more.

The takeaway for operators is inventory depth. Sending 45 to 60 days of stock keeps most units inside the free window.

Storage cost is a sell-through problem before it is a pricing problem.

Inbound Fees: Hub Placement and Routing Compliance

Inbound is where most TikTok Shop logistics fees get decided. FBT ships from hubs on both coasts and 14 fulfillment centers. Sellers can route inventory through a TikTok hub for a placement fee or ship direct to Tik Tok fulfillment centers with no placement fee, as long as they follow routing and allocation rules.

Inbound StageWhat FBT RequiresWhere Fees Get Triggered
Shipment planSKUs, quantities, and dates submitted up frontOverages or shortages vs the plan
RoutingCorrect hub or FC per allocationWrong delivery location
BookingScheduled appointment and on-time arrivalLate or missed appointments
LabelingScannable barcodes on every unitRelabeling at the warehouse
PackagingFBT packaging standardsRework before receiving

Routing non-compliance fees start at $0.50 per unit, tiered by weight, and stack on top of any hub placement fee. FBT no longer lets one inbound shipment split across two hubs. For pricing, the Redlands and Eastvale hubs in California count as West, and Middlesex in New Jersey counts as East.

At AMZ Prep, we see the same principle in every marketplace. Clean labels, accurate counts, and on-time appointments keep inbound costs flat.

Most avoidable FBT fees are decided before inventory reaches the dock.

Returns, Removals, and Value-Add Service Fees

On June 1, 2026, TikTok replaced the $3.00 per order return handling fee with itemized per-unit fees. The fee depends on your return setting and the final disposition of the product. Your return settings now directly set your return cost.

  • Disposal: Disposal fees apply when a returned unit’s final disposition is disposal.
  • Return to seller: This fee is based on the weight and dimensions of the package sent back to your warehouse.
  • Exit inventory: Freight removals using FBT’s carrier cost $0.39 per lb. Sellers who arrange pickup with their own carrier pay no shipping fee.
  • Missed pickups: A no-show or late arrival for a scheduled freight pickup triggers a penalty fee.

Value-add services launched May 15, 2026 are optional, apply only on request, and are invitation only in phase 1.

Return disposition is a setting, and each setting carries its own rate.

TikTok Shop Shipping Fees Outside FBT

TikTok Shop shipping fees depend on which logistics option you use. TikTok offers three: FBT, TikTok Shipping, and Seller Shipping, based on seller eligibility.

In February 2026, TikTok told merchants that Seller Shipping remained unchanged and that its earlier deadlines would not take effect. TikTok’s current logistics guide confirms eligible sellers can keep using Seller Shipping, as long as they follow platform rules.

Here is how the non-FBT options work:

  • TikTok Shipping, Standard Delivery: You ship from your own or a third-party warehouse using TikTok labels, available across the US.
  • Collections by TikTok (CBT): Better rates than Standard Delivery, with free daily pickup in selected regions.
  • Rate basis: TikTok Shipping bills on the greater of volumetric or actual weight, using the same รท166 formula.

For FBT, every product qualifies for free shipping by default, with no minimum order value. Sellers who opt out see a different setup:

  • A $30 free shipping threshold applies, and shoppers pay a flat $5.99 below it.
  • The standard FBT fulfillment fee still applies per unit.
  • TikTok reimburses $0.75 per unit on orders where the shopper paid shipping.

TikTok keeps the $5.99 shopper fee. The Free Shipping 3-Day Delivery badge goes to free-shipping products with a consistent 90%+ three-day delivery rate.

Free shipping is the default, and opting out has a price on both sides.

One SKU, Two Setups: A Worked Example

Here is how TikTok Shop order fulfillment fees move on one product. The SKU is a 1.5 lb skincare set, sold as a single unit.

One sku, two setups: a worked example
InputSetup ASetup B
Box size7 x 7 x 6 in (294 inยณ)10 x 8 x 6 in (480 inยณ)

The product is identical. Setup B pays a higher weight tier, a routing penalty, and storage fees. Every one of those costs comes from packaging and inventory planning, not the product.

Ways to Lower Your TikTok Shop Fulfillment Costs

Each of these levers ties to a specific rule on the rate card.

Ways to lower your tiktok shop fulfillment costs
  • Certify for SIOC. Ships in Own Container sellers can get up to $0.80 off per single-unit item. The discount applies only to single-unit orders, with a longest side under 32 inches.
  • Pre-kit your bundles. A physical bundle bills as one unit instead of several.
  • Right-size packaging. Staying at or under 332 inยณ keeps sub-2 lb items on actual weight.
  • Ship direct to FC. Full routing compliance removes the hub placement fee.
  • Send 45 to 60 days of stock. Most units sell before storage fees start.
  • Recheck bundles in the 5 to 20 lb range. The June 18 increase changes the math there.
  • Watch for incentive programs. TikTok’s 2026 incentive paid back 10% of fulfillment fees on qualifying extra units, capped at $1 per unit, from April through September.

FBT vs Seller Shipping vs 3PL: Side-by-Side

FBT is one strong option. The best choice depends on SKU weight, velocity, and how many channels share your inventory.

OptionBest FitCost StructureLimitations
Fulfilled by TikTokLight, fast-moving SKUs sold on TikTokPer-unit fulfillment plus storage and inbound feesNo kitting, standard size limits, stock held for TikTok orders
TikTok Shipping (Standard or CBT)Sellers with their own warehouse or 3PLTikTok label rates by chargeable weightCBT pickup only in selected regions
Seller ShippingEligible sellers with their own carrier accountsYour carrier rates and laborSeller handles all logistics inquiries and complaints
AMZ Prep (3PL)Omnichannel brands scaling across Amazon, Shopify, Walmart, and TikTok ShopPick, pack, storage, and multi-carrier shippingMinimums vary by brand, product profile, and channel mix

Many of the brands I work with run a hybrid model. TikTok officially supports using FBT and your own warehouse at the same time. FBT inventory ships first, and your warehouse covers orders once FBT stock runs out.

That setup lets hero SKUs earn the free shipping badge while buffer stock sits with a 3PL. Our TikTok Shop 3PL fulfillment team runs TikTok orders from the same inventory pool as Amazon and Shopify, with branded packaging and kitting in the same building.

The right fulfillment mix follows the SKU, not the channel.

Conclusion

Q4 is the right time to rebuild your TikTok cost model on the current rate card. Brands that map each SKU to its best fulfillment path now go into peak season with clean margins and stock in the right places.

TikTok Shop Fulfillment Fees FAQ

How much does FBT cost per unit in 2026?

FBT charges one per-unit fee covering pick, pack, packaging, and last-mile delivery. The rate depends on each unit’s chargeable weight and the number of units per order. TikTok publishes current tiers in the Seller Center rate card.

Does Fulfilled by TikTok charge for storage?

Yes, after the first 60 days. Storage is free for 60 days per inbound shipment. Inventory held up to 270 days gets discounts of 14% to 43%. Fees are calculated daily on total cubic feet.

Is Seller Shipping still allowed on TikTok Shop?

Yes. TikTok paused its plan to end Seller Shipping in February 2026. Eligible US sellers can choose Seller Shipping, TikTok Shipping, or Fulfilled by TikTok. Sellers can also run FBT and their own warehouse together.

How are FBT return fees charged?

Since June 1, 2026, FBT charges itemized per-unit return fees instead of a flat $3 per order. The fee depends on your return setting and the final disposition, such as disposal or return to the seller.

Do multi-unit orders cost less with FBT?

Usually, yes. Orders with 2, 3, or 4+ units from one seller in one checkout get lower per-unit rates. The June 18, 2026 update raised multi-unit rates in the 5 to 20 lb tiers.

How is chargeable weight calculated for FBT?

Units at or under 2 lb and 332 cubic inches bill on actual weight. Larger units bill on the greater of actual or dimensional weight. Dimensional weight is length times width times height, divided by 166.
